DirecTV lost the rights to NFL Sunday Ticket last year to YouTube TV.
Now it looks like DirecTV is trying to bolster its subscriber numbers by offering a $400 Visa Rewards Card to offset (partially) to cost of also subscribing to YouTube TV and NFL Sunday Ticket.
YouTube TV's base plan is $72.99/month (plus tax), although new subscribers can get it for $64.99/month + tax for the first 3 months. The NFL Sunday Ticket price is $299 for the season when paid in full. So, the $400 Visa card won't cover everything you'll need to pay to watch the full NFL season. But, it will cover a decent chunk of it. Our latest post on YouTube TV with NFL Sunday Ticket provides a few options that may lower the price a bit.
I guess there are a few reasons to consider this, but when I make those arguments for doing it, I can fairly easily refute them.
But, for some who want the DirecTV satellite service and NFL Sunday Ticket, this may be of interest.

New DirecTV Customers Can Access NFL Sunday Ticket from YouTube, On Us
Be sure and read the fine print if you're considering this deal. The most important point, especially for those who may cancel a current DirecTV subscription to take advantage of this promo, is what do they consider a "new DirecTV customer?" Is there a period of time you can't have been a subscriber before signing up for this promo? I don't see that answer anywhere in the article or its fine print at the bottom.
