DirecTV Price Increases for 2021

In case you don't want to wait for the "good" news, here it is.
Current Base and All Included Packages will increase by the amounts listed below.
Family - No increase
Select/Entertainment - $5/month
Choice/Total Choice Mobile - $7/month
Preferred XTRA/XTRA - $8/month
Ultimate/Premier - $9/month
Retired/WorldDirect Packages will increase between $1 and $8 per month depending on the specific package.
Beginning January 17, 2021, monthly DirecTV bills will now include a Federal Cost Recovery Fee of $0.19 per month. This is NOT a federally mandated fee. It's DirecTV's way of grabbing a "little extra" from subscribers to offset its expenses. Yes, it's only $0.19 per month, but it's just one more increase, coupled with those above, that will likely see an upward creep over the coming months and years.
Rate increases will go into effect on January 17, 2021.
There is some positive news in that premium channel pricing will drop for Cinemax, Starz and Showtime to $10.99 per month. And Sports Pack and other premium channel bundles will see discounts, too (with a few exceptions).
If you're currently on a discounted subscription, pricing will stay as-is until your promo pricing ends.
These price increases are always unfortunate, but not surprising. DirecTV seems to throw in these "cost of doing business" increases each year. The best - and really, only - way to get around these increases is to follow our tips for lowering your DirecTV bill. Although I do wonder how much longer that will last as the DirecTV model ages-out and more and more subscribers move to streaming options.
