[Ended] Delta Gold and Platinum American Express Cards Offering Increased Bonuses
Quote from Savings Beagle on September 18, 2020, 3:59 pmAmerican Express and Delta revamped their credit card lineup earlier this year and promoted them with increased sign-up bonuses to attract cardholders. Then the coronavirus pandemic hit.
Now they're seeing if enough time has passed and confidence in future travel has returned to a point where increased bonuses, once again, will lure new applicants.
These increased bonuses aren't as good as the "New Card Launch" bonuses from January, but they're still a bit higher than you'll normally see.
If you're not familiar with the revamping of the Delta credit card lineup, you can read the details in our piece from earlier this year.
Also, keep in mind American Express's once-in-a-lifetime sign-up bonus rule if you're thinking of applying for one of these cards. If you've received the sign-up bonus for a specific card in the past, you won't be eligible to receive it again. You might be approved, but you won't get the sign-up bonus.
And, considering the once-in-a-lifetime rule, a 70,000 miles sign-up bonus is not unheard of for these cards...just not common, either. Some may want to save their one bonus for the highest sign-up amount possible. The problem: you never know when, or if, it will come.
Now on to the bonuses.
Delta SkyMiles Gold Card Earn 50,000 bonus miles after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months from account opening. Annual fee is waived the first year – $99 each year thereafter
Delta SkyMiles Platinum Card Earn 60,000 bonus miles and 5,000 MQMs after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months from account opening. Annual fee is $250 (not waived)
Don’t forget, there are business credit card versions of the Delta SkyMiles Gold, Platinum and Reserve cards that are considered unique products, too. If you qualify for business cards, you may want to look at those, as well. Although sign-up bonuses may be different and require higher minimum spends to earn.
These increased sign-up bonuses are valid now through 10/28/2020.
