Here are a few tips for this deal.

While you have to activate on a $60 per month plan, you do not have to stay on a $60 per month plan.  Downgrade to a lower-priced plan ($30 per month?) within the first day of activation and you should receive a prorated credit ($30) effectively giving you 2-months of service for the $60 you paid upfront.

Using a referral code will provide a $25 credit after 60 days of service.  If you don't know anyone who can provide you a Cricket Wireless referral code, codes can be found - for free - on eBay (the eBay listers receive a $25 credit for referring).  Go to eBay to search or Google - be sure to use one that's been recently added since referers are limited to 10 referrals.  Old listings may have all 10 used up and the referral code won't work.

Yes, there are a few hoops to jump through to make this a real deal ($60 per month service is not really a deal) but if you're okay using the Cricket service - at least for six months at a lower per month service price - then this is a really nice deal on an iPhone SE.
