[Ended] Chase IHG Premier Credit Card
Quote from Savings Beagle on January 25, 2020, 9:59 amThe Chase IHG Premier credit card is currently offering its highest sign-up bonus, and eligible applicants who can get value from the IHG program may want to apply. Chase IHG Premier credit card - 140,000 IHG Rewards Club points after spending $3,000 within 3 months from account opening. Annual fee is $89. The card earns 10 IHG points per dollar spent at IHG hotels and resorts worldwide, but the real total is 25 points per dollar when you factor in being an IHG Rewards Club member and the status the IHG Premier card provides. It also earns 2 points per dollar on purchases at gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants. The usual 1 point will be earned on all other purchases. A few other benefits include:
- Free night certificate (properties costing 40,000 points or less per night) on card anniversary
- Automatic Platinum elite status
- Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee credit
You can read all the card's benefits and details at the link above. For those unaware, the IHG brand includes a number of hotel properties, a few of which include Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Candlewood Suites, Intercontinental and Kimpton. Some of these properties are lower to mid-tier properties, providing an okay stay experience, while Intercontinental and Kimpton can provide a top-tier stay. Award nights can be redeemed for as little as 10,000 points per night for lower-tier properties, and as high as 100,000 points per night at IHG's best properties. Usually, you can find a high-end property in the 70,000 points per night range, and nice properties around 50K per night. I personally don't focus on the IHG loyalty program, so reader comments on the program and award redemptions would be appreciated. With this increased sign-up bonus, you should be able to get at least 2 nights at a high-end property, and a lot more if Holiday Inns or Candlewood Suites are your preferred hotels. Of course, this being a Chase card, you need to keep Chase's 5/24 rule in mind. If you've been approved for 5 or more credit cards from any bank in the past 24 months, Chase will not approve your application. And, according to Chase's Terms, "if you currently have an IHG Rewards Club credit card from Chase, or you earned a new cardmember bonus on that credit card within the last 24 months, you are not eligible to receive another of the same credit card." An end date for this increased offer has not been published.
