Amazon regularly partners with various banks to offer select credit card holders money-saving deals. In what I believe is a first, Amazon and Capital One are offering a credit card deal that will save $20 off an $80 purchase.
If you’re familiar with how these Amazon/credit card deals work, try the link below to see if you’ve been targeted.
If you are eligible, you’ll see the promotion’s language, details for taking advantage as well as a button to activate the promo on your account.
If you’re not, you’ll see this message:
Those lucky enough to have been targeted need to click the Activate button, and the promo deal will automatically be added to your account.
Add eligible products to your Amazon cart – eligible products is defined as products sold and shipped by Amazon.
When checking out, you’ll need to use at least $0.01 (1 Capital One rewards point) of your available points to trigger the discount.
The $20 off $80 discount will be applied to qualifying items at checkout.
ADDITIONAL PROMO INFO
Each promo has its own end date. Although, some are extended past the original end date for an indefinite period of time.
For the $20 off $80 offer the end date is 9/30/2020.
It’s important to remember, only items “shipped and sold by Amazon.com” are eligible for the savings deal. Luckily, many products fall into this category.
Just look on a product’s page, usually near the “add to cart” section or “deliver to” section for the wording “Ships from and sold by Amazon.com Services LLC.”
And if you’ve recently added a Capital One rewards card to your Amazon account, it may take a few days to show this promo…if you’re targeted.
If you’re not targeted when you first check, try again in a few days, new accounts seem to be added periodically.
And, some have had success getting the offer to show by removing the card from Amazon and adding it back as a payment method attached to the Pay with Points program.
PURCHASES
While any product “shipped from and sold by Amazon.com” will qualify for this deal, it’s good to know many gift cards qualify, too.
I’ve used similar Amazon / Amex deals in the past to save 50% on my Netflix subscription costs. I’ve bought a $60 Netflix gift card for $30, loaded the gift card to my Netflix account and had it pay $60 worth of monthly charges. Not a bad deal.
WRAP UP
The Capital One / Amazon savings promotion is fairly new to the Amazon/credit card savings deals arena.
Chase, American Express, Citi and Discover Amazon/credit card deals come along somewhat regularly. You can always check our Amazon Savings Opportunities topic for the latest credit card and non-credit card deals.
Hopefully, Capital One will become a regular savings opportunity now, too.
They’re all a great way to save on Amazon purchases.
Just keep in mind, to qualify for any of these types of deals items must be shipped from and sold by Amazon.com.
But with a little imagination, it’s pretty easy to find ways to save on even your everyday purchases with these promos.
