Barclays' Hawaiian Airlines Card - 80,000 Miles Sign-Up Bonus

Barclays is offering an 80,000 miles sign-up bonus on its Hawaiian Airlines credit card. This is the highest bonus for this card, although it's important to note it's broken into two earning segments.

You can earn 60,000 HawaiianMiles after spending $2,000 within the first 90 days from card approval.  Then, an additional 20,000 HawaiianMiles after spending a total of $4,000 in the first 6 months from card approval.

If you're planning a trip to Hawaii, this might be a card to consider.

There's limited award availability on Hawaiian from the mainland to the islands, but it's easier to find inter-island availability at a decent award price if you plan on island hopping.

Here's a quick overview of the card's benefits and ongoing earning power.

Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard

  • Earn 3 miles per dollar spent on Hawaiian Airlines purchases
  • Earn 2 miles per dollar spent on gas, dining and eligible grocery store purchases
  • Earn 1 mile per dollar spent on all other purchases

Benefits

  • First checked bag free
  • One-time 50% off companion discount on roundtrip travel between Hawaii and North America
  • $100 companion discount annually for roundtrip travel between Hawaii and North America each account anniversary

Annual Fee: $99 (not waived the first year)

The Barclays' Hawaiian Airlines card does offer some potentially attractive benefits, as well as decent earning power with its gas, dining and grocery categories.

But the card, itself, is really a niche award card, great for an upcoming Hawaii trip or two...more beneficial if you're lucky enough to find award availability to/from the U.S.

And, considering how difficult Hawaii has been and is being with letting outsiders in during Covid, it's questionable whether this high sign-up bonus is worth the credit pull and annual fee at this time.
