Chase Freedom cardholders are being nudged to activate the free (for 3 months) DoorDash DashPass benefit with a $10 credit toward your first DoorDash order.

We wrote about the Chase credit card/DashPass perk a while back.  You can read our full post here if you want details.

This $10 credit promo is likely targeted to Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited cardholders who've yet to activate the free trial membership on their cards.

A quick rundown of the benefit for the Freedom cards includes:

• Free DashPass benefits on eligible orders for 3 months after activation 
• After the first 3 months, the user will be auto-enrolled for the next 9 months in DashPass with a 50% discount
• After the first 12 months, the user will be auto-enrolled into full price membership

Regular price for DashPass is $9.99 per month.

So, if you try the free benefit, and don't want to be charged after the first 3 months, set a reminder to cancel.

The $10 DoorDash Credit

If you haven't activated the DoorDash benefit on your Freedom card, you're likely eligible for this $10 credit promotion.

Here's what you need to do.

1. Create a DoorDash account if you don't already have one.
2. Add your Freedom card as your default payment method directly into the app. If you use a third-party wallet, Chase will not be able to offer you the complimentary subscription.
3. Activate your complimentary subscription when prompted, and enjoy!

For the $10 credit promo, activation must be done by 9/30/2020.

I would think this $10 credit would stack with the current DoorDash "Summer of DashPass" weekly deals that are available through September 6.

The $10 DoorDash credit is a nice motivator to activate the DashPass benefit on your Freedom card. 

However, don't be fooled, this is a concerted effort by Chase and DoorDash to get people signed up who'll then forget monthly charges begin after the first 3 months.  If DashPass doesn't provide value to you, be sure to cancel prior to month 4.
