Sam's Club typically has some kind of new membership deal available that either effectively makes the membership free, or close to free, via Sam's Club credits on a future Sam's purchase.

This deal is good for "new memberships" only. Which, historically, means you can't have been a member in the previous six months.

There are workarounds to this, though.

One requires signing up using a different email address than used for your most recent membership. And a different payment method might be a good cover-your-bases thing to do, too. Although, that's probably not really needed. The name and address have really not mattered when joining again via an online link.

The other option is having someone in your household join (who've obviously not been a recent member) and add you as a complimentary cardholder.

While auto-renew is required for this promotion, it is easy to turn off in your Sam's Club online account once your membership is activated.
