Today through April 14, 2017, when you shop online via the United Mileage Plus Shopping portal and spend $350 or more, you’ll earn 1,000 United miles on top of the miles you’ll earn from your selected retailer.

United miles are my preferred legacy carrier miles for long-haul flights.  It’s fairly easy to find overseas award ticket availability using United miles to fly United Airlines itself, or one of its partner airlines (for a few more miles).

American Airlines award availability is almost non-existent recently and Delta’s awards can vary greatly in price, so it’s nice to have a fairly standard award price coupled with decent availability as you’ll find with United’s program.

Which is why I don’t discount these bonus deals on United miles.  True, 1,000 miles isn’t going to get you anything on its own, but coupled with a credit card sign-up bonus, a transfer of some Ultimate Rewards points and a few other purchases via the Mileage Plus Shopping portal or MileagePlus X app, you’re talking a pile of miles that can take you wherever your heart desires.
