Chase Including Additional Cards in the One-Year Free DashPass Subscription Deal
It was January of 2020 that Chase introduced the Chase/DashPass free subscription deal for select Chase cardholders.
Sapphire Reserve and Preferred cardholders receive(d) a one-year free DashPass membership while Freedom cardholders receive(d) 3-months free and a half-price membership for the following 9 months.
Now it appears Chase is offering the free one-year DashPass membership benefit to a majority of its co-branded credit cards. The new additions include:
- Marriott cards
- United cards
- Southwest cards
- IHG cards
- World of Hyatt card
- Disney cards
- Aer Lingus/British Airways/Iberia cards
- Starbucks Rewards cards
If you hold one of these credit cards and want to take advantage of the free one-year DashPass membership, add your card to the DoorDash app as the default payment method or enroll your card via the Chase/DoorDash link here.
You’ll need to activate this benefit prior to its expiration date of December 31, 2021. If you activate December 31, you should have access to DashPass and all it offers through all of 2022.
DashPass
Not sure what DashPass is? Here’s a quick rundown.
DashPass is a subscription service of DoorDash’s that provides free deliveries (no delivery fee) on orders from eligible restaurants. Service fees and minimum order amounts may/will still apply.
This free DashPass subscription for select Chase credit card holders is a $9.99 per month savings based on the monthly DashPass subscription fee.
And, your DashPass benefits also include:
- DoorDash and Caviar (sister company) savings
- $0 delivery fees for orders over $12
- Exclusive DashPass deals
- 5% back on every eligible pickup order
My DashPass Experience
I’ve used two 3-month free Freedom DashPass subscriptions over the past year.
And it was a benefit for most of that time, saving on delivery fees, with an occasional deal thrown in here and there.
A few things of which to be aware, though.
Not all restaurants will include the DashPass benefits. Be sure and look for the “eligible restaurants” icon when scrolling through the app. Or just click the DashPass button to see all eligible establishments. The ones that aren’t part of DashPass will include the delivery fee and full service fee.
And be sure to cancel your free DashPass subscription prior to its renewal date to avoid a charge for the next month’s service.
Wrap Up
With the pandemic winding down in most of the U.S., I’m guessing DoorDash usage is slowing. This is likely why Chase is now including the DashPass benefit on most of its co-branded credit cards.
If you use DoorDash, or think you might, there’s really no reason not to enroll in the free DashPass membership.
Just remember to set a reminder for one year from activation to cancel the membership to avoid ongoing monthly charges.
