A Free Sam’s Club Membership and a Chicken to Boot? Yep, Here’s How
|In the money saving game, there are deals and then there are deals.
This Sam’s Club membership deal falls into the latter category…if you’re up to jumping through the hoops necessary, that is.
For those who aren’t, let’s start with an easy way to save 20% off a Sam’s Club membership.
20% off a Sam’s Club Membership
A Sam’s Club Amex Offer was recently released that provides a $10 statement credit when your enrolled American Express card is used to spend $50 or more, online, at Sam’s Club’s website.
Conveniently, Sam’s Club memberships can be purchased online at this link.
And, now through January 31, 2019, when you purchase your new Sam’s Club membership via the above link, you’ll receive a number of sweeteners as well.
The primary one being a $10 Sam’s Club Egift Card when a $45 Sam’s Club membership is purchased.
Oh, and you’ll get that free chicken, too.
So, effectively, you’ll be getting a $45 Sam’s Club membership for only $25 ($45 – $10 Amex Offer when you spend $5 more) – $10 Sam’s Egift Card = $25)
Or, if you want to just keep the calculation simple, buy a $45 Sam’s Club membership online, spend $5 or more on any Sam’s purchase, online, prior to 10/17/18, and you’ll get a $10 Amex statement credit.
And, you get the free chicken on your next visit to a Sam’s Club store! Okay, I’m done hawking the free chicken.
You Can Do Better
You can, however, do much better than just a $10 savings on a Sam’s membership.
As with many deals, stacking is the key to huge savings.
And this involves mega stacking of deals.
Which, ultimately, if followed correctly, will turn into a small money-maker for you.
Many may not want to bother, which is why I presented the basic money-saving version above. However, if you’re the type who really loves a deal, and pulling every last penny you can out of an opportunity, then this is for you.
Here’re the basics of the deal, but I’m going to refer you to Stephen over at Frequent Miler who did the major heavy lifting on detailing this promotion. He provides step-by-step instructions on how to get all you can from this deal. Definitely, use their affiliate links if you’re new to some of the cash back earning options he uses.
And those cash back earners include:
- Top Cashback
- Dosh
- Acorns
Accounts will need to be set up in each to maximize this deal. But, what’s nice, is for each cash back program, new members earn free cash back, which adds, indirectly, to the amount “made” with this deal.
However, it’s important to know that most also require a minimum amount of cash back to be earned/accumulated in your account before a payout is made.
For Dosh it’s $25 before they’ll pay out.
Acorns – I’m not too familiar with Acorns. It appears to be an investment/savings app that uses “cash back” in addition to user-supplied funds to somewhat automate the saving/investing process…a noble effort. I’m not sure the process for accessing cash back, or if there’s minimum before a withdrawal can be done, though.
Top Cashback does not have a minimum threshold for payouts, although you do have to wait for transactions to become “Payable.” This can take multiple weeks, or even months, depending on the merchant/cashback offer.
So, it’s not like you’ll get all the cash back that Stephen references right away.
That said, head on over to the Frequent Miler post on this mega stack deal to get walked through the specifics. And don’t forget to use their affiliate links!
Why Sam’s Club?
If you’ve read any of our earlier posts associated with Sam’s Club or Sam’s Club membership deals, you know there can be value found even if you don’t need 5-pound tubs of mayonnaise or a 20-pack of chicken breasts.
You can save a significant amount of money utilizing Sam’s Club Pharmacies for your prescription drug needs.
If you have an HSA, pay for your prescriptions out-of-pocket, or even have a high prescription drug co-pay with your health insurance plan, Sam’s Club Pharmacy pricing just might be able to lower your costs.
A select number of drugs are absolutely free, and many prescription drugs are priced at only $4 for a 30-day supply.
The catch – you must be a Sam’s Plus member which costs $100 per year. But that membership cost can easily be offset with the above savings on the basic membership first, and then by the prescription drug savings you can get throughout the year.
It’s important to note, you’ll need to purchase the basic membership first, using the savings plays listed above, and then you can upgrade to the Sam’s Plus membership if you want to take advantage of the prescription drug offerings. Upgrading can be done at the pharmacy when you purchase your first prescription.

And, of course, there can be savings on a number of everyday items if you do your research. Razor blades seem to be a value play if you prefer the name brands.
And various gift cards are always offered at a discounted rate.
Wrap Up
A few times a year, you can get deals on Sam’s Club memberships. Oftentimes, the Sam’s Club membership deals coincide with Sam’s Club Amex Offers that can lower the membership price via a credit card statement credit.
We have that scenario right now.
But Stephen over at Frequent Miler has taken the Sam’s Club membership savings to a new level. If you’re a true deal lover, you need to give it a look.
And, if you are a current Sam’s Club member and American Express credit card holder with this Offer attached to your card, you can simply take advantage of the $10 off $50 at samsclub.com.
