A Few Ways to Earn 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards Points The Next Few Months
Tomorrow, October 1, 2019, begins the Chase Freedom credit card’s fourth-quarter bonus categories. They include:
- Department Stores
- PayPal
- Chase Pay
All purchases in these categories earn 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent – or 5% cash back – October 1, 2019, through December 31, 2019.
Two of those categories may be on the difficult side to utilize if you’re not familiar with their operation – PayPal and Chase Pay.
I want to focus on Chase Pay, and a few of the ways you can not only earn the extra cash back/Ultimate Rewards points, but also save on your purchases.
Chase Pay
Chase Pay is a digital wallet payment system through which any of your Chase credit cards can be used to pay.
The Chase Pay app will be phased out in early 2020, but Chase Pay will remain as a payment system, primarily for online purchases. Just look for the button below whenever you go to pay for your online purchases.

With Chase Pay one of the Chase Freedom’s bonus categories this final quarter of 2019, here are a few ways to use Chase Pay and earn 5x points or 5% cash back when your Freedom card is used to pay.
1-800-Flowers.com
The 1-800-Flowers.com site offers a wide variety of food, merchandise and flowers on which significant savings can be had.
The remainder of 2019 when you check out with Chase Pay (and use the Freedom card to pay) not only will you earn the 5x/5%, but you’ll also save 20% at any of the 1-800-Flowers.com brands.
To make this deal even better, you should be able to click through a shopping portal first (airline/cash back/points) and earn those rewards, too.
Check Cashback Monitor to see the savings opportunities at 1-800-Flowers.com or any of its subsidiaries (Popcorn Factory, Wolferman’s, Cheryl’s Cookies, Harry and David, etc.), click through your preferred shopping portal and then select Chase Pay at checkout. Stacking those savings all together just might result in a major reduction in your final price.
Shell
Link the Chase Pay app to the Shell app and you’ll get $0.30 off per gallon – max of 20 gallons – when you pay.
On top of that, you’ll earn the 5x/5% when your Freedom card is the payment method within Chase Pay.
The $0.30 off deal is a one-time savings opportunity, but you’ll continue to earn the 5x/5% on your Shell purchases as long as you use the Shell app with Chase Pay linked (and, of course, your Freedom card as the payment card) to pay for your gas through December 31, 2019
Cinemark Movies
And, you can use Chase Pay to purchase movie tickets online for showings at any Cinemark theater.
If your holiday plans include seeing the latest releases, be sure to use the Chase Pay app – and your Freedom card – to purchase your tickets online and earn the 5x/5% bonus in the process.
With the price of movies these days, that’ll be a nice haul of Ultimate Rewards points, or a savings of 5%…either way, that’s a good deal.
