A Fantastic Money-Making Opportunity for New Rakuten Users

Rakuten is offering a fantastic money-making opportunity for new users now through May 1, 2020.

Increased New User Bonuses

The usual referral bonus for new users provides $10 cash back for new users when the Rakuten cash back portal is used to spend $25 at partner retailers.

For this limited period of time, new users will earn $30 cash back after joining and spending $30 or more at partner retailers.

This increased new user promo is valid through May 1, 2020.

Support Savings Beagle

If you are new to Rakuten and use our referral link to sign up and make the minimum spend, we’ll receive a $30 referral bonus, too.

Which is a really nice bonus for us during this time of reduced ad and Amazon revenue as a result of a general downturn due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If you’ve benefited from the information, deals or strategies we’ve published, and continue to publish, this is a way to show support.

And as long as you’re making purchases on items you’d be buying anyway, there’s really no direct cost associated with your support.

And, you’ll be making $30 in the process!

You can use our referral link below to sign-up as well as search for retailers at which you can make the $30 minimum spend.

Rakuten Retailers

Rakuten offers a wide variety of retailers from which to purchase.

I’ll focus on a few that will pay cash back on purchases many may be making during the coronavirus lockdowns.

Grubhub (currently 11% cash back for new customers, 2% existing)

Postmates ($7 cash back for new customers, discounts for others)

Uber Eats (4% cash back)

Omaha Steaks (3.5% cash back)

Walgreens – (up to 3% cash back, 2% on most items)

Office Depot/Office Max (2% cash back)

PetSmart (1% cash back)

Ace Hardware (2.5% cash back)

These are just a few of the many retailers at which you can earn some amount of cash back and/or utilize discounts and promotions.

And keep in mind, cash back rates will change. Sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. The key is to jump on increased cash back earning promos when they come along.

One final note on cash back rates. We’re definitely seeing lower cash back rates – and some retailers with no cash back earnings that used to offer them – due to the economic downturn.

Taking advantage of what’s available now is better than earning nothing. And hopefully, we’ll see an uptick in cash back offerings in the months ahead.

Cash Back or Amex Membership Rewards Points

As we’ve written before, Rakuten allows users to switch between earning cash back or American Express Membership Rewards points.

Right now, for many, cash back is the better option.

But, if you’re into the Miles and Points game, you can add to your Amex Membership Rewards points balance just by going through the Rakuten portal to make your online purchases (once your MR account is connected to Rakuten).

Rakuten New Users

If you’re new to Rakuten, the process for getting cash back is simple.

Sign up for a Rakuten account – limited information is needed, and can be completed in a few minutes or less.

Once your account is set up, simply make sure you’re signed in to your Rakuten account, click through the Rakuten site to your desired retailer (you’ll be automatically directed to the retailer’s website) and make your purchase.

By clicking through the Rakuten site first, your purchases will be registered with Rakuten, and the appropriate cash back or Membership Rewards points based on the amount spent will be credited to your Rakuten account.

It may take a week or so for the credited amount to appear in your account.  And payments are made quarterly, so any cash back/points accrued during the current quarter will be held until payment is disbursed at Rakuten’s pre-determined payment times.

Wrap Up

For a limited time, new Rakuten users can earn an easy $30 when they join and spend $30 or more at Rakuten partner retailers.

And if you use our referral link, Savings Beagle will earn $30 as well. We greatly appreciate new users who consider using our link.

I’m sure Rakuten, like many businesses these days, is seeing a slowdown. This increased sign-up bonus is a way to get more people engaged with Rakuten now and in the future.

And, to be honest, whether it’s now, or down the road, saving money on your purchases is a smart thing to do.

Yes, I get it, a few percentages – sometimes a lot more, though – is not a huge deal.

But, a little savings here and a little savings there really does add up over time.

The hard part is remembering to click through Rakuten before making your purchases!

But, if you make it a routine, saving money will be automatic whenever you go to buy online (or in-store, too, at Rakuten’s in-store partners).

So, if you’re new to Rakuten, sign-up now and get to earning cash back.

And if you’re not new to Rakuten, keep using the cash back portals to better your financial position as much as possible.
