Shell Fuel Rewards Members Can Save an Extra $0.20 Per Gallon When Filling Up Tuesday, December 20, 2022 – Register By End of Day December 15th
Shell’s Fuel Rewards program is offering [select] members an extra $0.20 per gallon discount on a fill up made Tuesday, December 20, 2022, when the promo is activated.
You likely will have to activate this promotion via the Activate Offer button on the promo’s email to you. I have not heard of other ways to activate these Shell discount offers. Please comment if you have.
So, check your email account for the Fuel Rewards email…mine was sent December 13…titled “Save 20 cents/gal on December 20th!.” And, the email language states to “Activate this offer below by the end of December 15th and fill up on December 20th…”
If you don’t have an email, maybe log in to your Fuel Rewards account to see if there’s an activation link available to you there. Although, while I received the email, I did not see an activation link anywhere on my Fuel Rewards online account.
Like previous promos, this is to celebrate the Fuel Rewards program’s 10 year anniversary. Which likely means this will be the last twenty-cent per gallon savings offer we’ll see since we’re at the end of 2022.
The Tuesday, December 20th fill up (at least 5 gallons) will trigger the promotion’s $0.20 per gallon savings on that purchase.
While the language isn’t explicitly clear, the discount should apply to the October 20th fill up. If not, it will be available for a future gasoline purchase. Shell has run this promo both ways this year, unfortunately. Most, however, have provided the savings on the 20th.
Here are the full terms, I’ve highlighted what I believe are the most important points:
- Offer available exclusively to the recipient of this email.
- To qualify for this offer you must 1) be a Fuel Rewards® member, 2) activate your offer through the Activate Offer button in this email between 12/13/2022 and 12/15/2022, and 3) fill up one (1) time with a minimum of at least five (5) gallons of fuel at a participating Shell station (a “Qualifying Purchase”) on 12/20/2022(the “Offer Period”).
- Upon completing a Qualifying Purchase during the Offer Period, a 20¢/gal reward will be applied to one (1) fill up.
- The 20¢/gal reward can only be redeemed once during the Offer Period.
- Void where prohibited by law; only available in the U.S. Fuel Rewards® savings are limited to 20 gallons of fuel per purchase, per vehicle or fraud limits placed by Shell and/or limits placed on your payment card by your financial institution, each of which may be lower. Dispenser may require a price of up to 10.9¢ per gallon.
- For purchases of $75 or more, please go inside to pay.
- Unbranded diesel and alternative fuels may not be eligible.
- It may not be possible to combine multiple discounts and/or rewards in a single transaction.
- The Fuel Rewards® program is owned and operated by Excentus Corporation.
- Offer may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice.

And, of course, use a Fuel Rewards account linked credit card or sign in at the pump prior to filling up to ensure you get the discount.

Gold Status with Fuel Rewards gives members 5 cents off per gallon of gas up to 20 gallons per fill up, while Silver Status provides a 3 cent per gallon savings.
Once you’ve signed up for the Fuel Rewards program, simply swipe your Fuel Rewards card, your Single Swipe enabled payment card (credit card) or enter your Alt Id (usually it’s the phone number you provide when setting up the account) at the pump and your per gallon savings will automatically appear.
Additional per gallon savings can be had when you link to dining, shopping or other programs.

It’s been nice to see the Fuel Rewards program offer these savings opportunities in 2022. Not sure if it’ll come back in 2023 branded in another way…not the 10 year anniversary promo that was used this year…or not. We can hope.
Just remember, for the final time this year, it’s for Fuel Rewards members only, and you must activate the promotion on your account prior to end-of-day, Thursday, December 15, 2022.
