Chase Introduces The Instacart Mastercard to Its Credit Card Lineup

Chase has introduced the Instacart Mastercard to its credit card lineup, and those who use Instacart to shop on a regular basis may want to give it a look.

As with any credit card, the ongoing earning/benefit options are a nice perk, but the initial sign-up bonus can be the real kicker when looking for a new credit card.

And the Chase Instacart Mastercard is offering the first 10,000 applicants who are approved prior to August 4, 2022, a $200 Instacart credit. There is no spend requirement associated with this $200 sign-up bonus, which makes it an easy $200 toward your Instacart orders.

Here’s a quick overview of the new Instacart credit card.

Chase Instacart Mastercard

Limited-Time Sign-Up Bonus – $200 Instacart credit and one free year of Instacart+. (Good for the first 10,000 applicants prior to August 4, 2022)

Regular Sign-up Bonus – $100 Instacart credit and one free year of Instacart+.

Ongoing earning/benefits

  • 5% cash back on Instacart app and Instacart.com purchases
  • 5% cash back on travel purchased through the Chase Travel Center/Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal
  • 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations and on select streaming services
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

All new applicants will receive one free year of Instacart+, Instacart’s membership program that provides free delivery on all purchases over $35, along with lower service fees (if applicable). If you choose pickup for your Instacart orders, you’ll earn 5% back on each eligible pickup order which can be used on future Instacart orders.

Once the first free year of Instacart+ ends, you’ll be charged the current annual rate for the Instacart+ service – currently $99 – unless you cancel prior to being charged.

Annual Fee: No annual fee

As with any Chase card that earns cash back, you’ll be able to redeem your earned cash back via a direct deposit to a bank account, or use them as a statement credit.

And, coming soon, you’ll be able to use your earned cash back to pay for all or part of a purchase in the Instacart app or on Instacart.com.

Wrap Up

Chase has introduced a new credit card to its lineup, the Instacart Mastercard.

If you apply, and are approved, soon, you’ll receive a $200 Instacart credit as a sign-up bonus. If you miss the limited-time bonus, you’ll have to settle for the regular $100 Instacart credit.

Obviously, this credit card is targeted toward Instacart users, and more to the point, regular Instacart users.

If that’s not you, then there are likely better credit cards to look toward that’ll help your bottom line.

But, if you use Instacart somewhat regularly, and the stores at which you use Instacart don’t inflate prices, then this card can be a money-saver. Especially if your Instacart purchases tend toward groceries, which continue to increase in price.

The way to really maximize your savings is to use this card for your Instacart purchases, choosing pickup, rather than delivery. Not only will you earn the 5% back on your Instacart orders thanks to the credit card, but you’ll also earn 5% back via the Instacart+ free membership by choosing pickup for your orders.

What do you think? Would you consider applying for the new Instacart credit card?
