If you’ve been considering a Sam’s Club membership, we’re seeing a deal that will effectively make your $45 membership fee free.
Valpak is offering a join for $45, get a $45 Sam’s Club gift card to use on Sam’s Club purchases deal now through March 31, 2021.
You can join by clicking the “Join Now” button on the Valpak deal page, or by printing the coupon shown and presenting it at the customer service counter at your Sam’s Club location.

Here are some important points of which to be aware.
The $45 gift card is in the form of an Instant Savings offer that’s loaded onto your membership account (usually within 72 hours from opening a membership) and is valid for 60 days from that point.
Which means you need to take advantage of the $45 savings within 60 days or you’ll lose it.
And, the $45 savings must be redeemed in a single transaction in a club location and on a register.
You cannot take advantage of the $45 savings on Sam’s Club’s website, with the Scan & Go purchase option or with Pickup.
You’ll need to actually go into a Sam’s Club store and purchase $45 worth of items and pay for them at a register to use the $45 savings.
Also, this deal is for new members only. However, if you or someone in your household hasn’t been a Sam’s Club member for the previous six months, you should be able to take advantage of this promo.
The membership is valid for one year from the date of activation.
Joining will automatically enroll you in auto-renew, but once you set up a Sam’s Club membership account on the website, auto-renew can be turned off.
Why Get a Sam’s Club Membership
If you don’t have a large family where buying 3 pound tubs of mayo and 10 pounds of chicken at a time is normal, you may not think a Sam’s Club membership is worth it.
And it may not be.
But, for my wife and me, I’ve found that you can find specific deals that will make the annual membership fee – even without an offer like this – worth paying.
In prior years, I found Sam’s Club Pharmacy pricing very competitive for certain medications.
If you don’t have insurance that covers your prescription drugs, you can find a number of prescriptions at incredibly low prices. As low as $4 for a month’s supply. And for a select number of prescriptions, there is no cost at all.
A Sam’s Plus Membership opens up better pricing on select prescriptions. Even though Plus Memberships costs $100 per year, that added cost can potentially be made up via the savings you’ll enjoy on your prescription drugs.
It does seem Sam’s Pharmacy has changed since I originally used it, though…maybe not quite as lucrative since GoodRx has become more of a player in the discount prescription game.
But, if you take prescription drugs regularly, you should give Sam’s Club Pharmacy pricing a look and compare it with the other savings programs that are available.
Other Savings
Occasionally, Chase and American Express credit cards will have Sam’s Club membership savings deals as part of their Chase Offers and Amex Offers. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any right now, but it’s always good to check before making a purchase…in this case a Sam’s membership purchase.
And, right now through March 31, 2021, the Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex credit cards have warehouse clubs (which includes Sam’s Club) as one of their 5% cash back earning categories.
So, any Sam’s Club purchase using one of those credit cards to pay – as long as you’ve activated the bonus categories for this quarter – will earn 5% cash back.
And, various cash back and miles and points earning sites will increase earning opportunities every once in a while, making a click through them a worthwhile extra step when making a Sam’s Club purchase. These are just a few of the ways you can save on your Sam’s Club purchases once you’ve taken advantage of this sign-up promotion.

To be honest, there is rarely a time when there isn’t a Sam’s Club membership deal going on. And, often, there are multiple deals at any one time.
So, taking advantage of a membership savings isn’t too difficult. It’s just knowing one is available and having the link to the deal.
