Save 30% on a Discovery+ 6 or 12-Month Subscription
Discovery+, the recently introduced streaming platform for the various channels that are part of the Discovery family, is offering a 30% savings on six and twelve month no-ads subscriptions.
While they’re promoted as Discovery+ gift subscriptions, nothing’s stopping you from “gifting” the subscription to yourself.
The six and twelve month no-ads subscriptions are priced:
- 6-month Discovery+ subscription – $29 (regularly priced at $42)
- 12-month Discovery+ subscription – $59 (regularly priced at $84)
Depending on where you live, tax may be added to the subscription pricing.

Discovery+
Discovery+ is just the latest of a number of “+” streaming options associated with various entertainment channels/platforms.
As with most of these streaming platforms, you’ll get a mix of on-demand content that can also be found on other media in addition to Discovery+-specific content that can only be found on the streaming platform.
Because Discovery+ includes a number of cable channels – HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Travel Channel, Discovery, to name a few – it offers a large amount of content.
Interestingly, I’ve noticed the Discovery family of channels has begun a new practice (I don’t believe other streaming options do this – yet) that releases certain series’ new content on the Discovery+ platform only.
Which means, if you really enjoy a certain show/series, and you want to see its new releases, you need to subscribe to Discovery+.
Likely, these episodes will be released to the cable networks after a period of time, but there’s no guarantee. We’ll just have to see how this plays out.
It’s a shrewd move to generate streaming subscribers and revenue. Just not sure how it’ll be received by the viewing public.
If you’ve found a show or two that you really enjoy not available on its regular Discovery channel, but instead on the Discovery+ platform, this subscription deal may be a way to watch for a slightly better price.
Discovery+ Pricing
It’s worth keeping in mind, the Discovery+ streaming platform offers two pricing tiers. One with ads and one without.
The per month price for each is:
- $4.99 + tax with ads
- $6.99 + tax without ads
If you subscribed to the monthly plan with ads, your price would be about the same as the ad-free pricing of this deal.
But you’re on a month-to-month plan, able to cancel, and re-start, your subscription whenever you want.
And, I won’t be surprised if we begin seeing credit card deals – Amex Offers, Chase Offers, Citi Offers – that provide a savings on per month Discovery+ charges.
Just something to factor in when you’re considering whether this 6/12 month upfront deal is for you.
Wrap Up
The Discovery+ streaming platform is offering deal pricing on six and twelve month subscriptions to its ad-free plan.
This deal does provide a 30% savings, so if ad-free is something you value, this deal is worth considering.
However, the month-to-month pricing for the Discovery+ ad supported version is about the same as the deal pricing without the upfront output of money.
Just depends on what you value and if you’re okay with the upfront payment option.
