A Free Sam’s Club Membership – And a Potential Money-Maker Too

Like this deal? Please pass it along!

In the money saving game, there are deals and then there are deals.

This Sam’s Club membership deal falls into the latter category…if you’re up to jumping through the hoops necessary, that is.

Let’s start with the free Sam’s Club membership, first.

Free Sam’s Club Membership

Technically, you have to pay $45, but within 72 hours you’ll receive an “instant savings” offer for $45 off $45 or more of qualifying purchases loaded to your Sam’s Club account.

Some items are excluded from the $45 off such as alcoholic beverages, tobacco, milk, fuel, pharmacy, gift cards, memberships and shipping costs. Pretty much everything else sold at Sam’s Club would qualify, though.

And, you must redeem your $45 off $45 deal within 60 days from account opening.

To get this deal, you need to begin at the link below.

Sam’s Club Membership Deal Link

Enter your email address and a unique promo code will be emailed to you.

You can join in-club or by clicking the “Redeem Now” link in the email.

This promotion is valid now through March 8, 2020.

When you take advantage of this promotion, you authorize annual recurring charges to any card on file for your Sam’s Club membership fee(s) plus any applicable taxes at then-current rate every year until you cancel.

Canceling recurring payments is fairly easy to do via your Sam’s Club account. Just be sure to set one up once your membership is active and then deselect recurring payments. Then you won’t have to worry about being charged next year if you don’t want to continue your membership.

YOU CAN DO BETTER

As with many deals, stacking is the key to huge savings.

There is currently an American Express Offer that provides a $25 statement credit when the Amex card on which the Offer is loaded is used to spend $45 on a new membership.

You might be able to use the Amex Offer link SamsClub.com/JoinAMEX and enter the promo code you received in the promo email during sign-up.

But, the better way would be to click through the “Redeem Now” link in the promo email and use your Amex card on which the Offer is loaded to pay for the $45 membership. There are reports that the Amex Offer’s being triggered using this method. Although, as with anything, YMMV.

If it works, that’s effectively a free $25!

If you haven’t already added this Sam’s Club Amex Offer to your account, it may be too late since the Offer expires 1/31/20. But, it’s still worth checking. And definitely using if you did add it to an Amex account.

The next way to save/make money on this deal is to have a Dosh account.

We’ve written about Dosh in the past, and how you can easily earn cash back just from adding a credit card, or more than one, to your Dosh account and using them to pay at Dosh partners.

Sam’s Club is one of Dosh’s partners. Some Dosh members are seeing an offer for $10 back on a new Sam’s Club membership.

As long as you charge the new membership to a card you’ve linked to your Dosh account (preferably the American Express card on which you have the Amex Offer loaded) you’ll get the $10 cash back deal, too.

And, Dosh seems to be offering 5% cash back on in-store Sam’s Club purchases using a linked credit card. So you’ll get that, too, on future purchases…up to a $15 lifetime maximum.

It’s important to know Dosh has a minimum amount of earned cash back – $25 – before they’ll pay out. So, depending on what deals you have on your specific Dosh account, you may not get your payout for a while.

If you don’t yet have a Dosh account, you can open one via this DOSH ACCOUNT LINK. It’s our referral link, from which we’ll receive a cash back bonus…thank you if you use our link.

WHY SAM’S CLUB?

If you’ve read any of our earlier posts associated with Sam’s Club or Sam’s Club membership deals, you know there can be value found even if you don’t need 5-pound tubs of mayonnaise or a 20-pack of chicken breasts.

You can save a significant amount of money utilizing Sam’s Club Pharmacies for your prescription drug needs.

If you have an HSA, pay for your prescriptions out-of-pocket, or even have a high prescription drug co-pay with your health insurance plan, Sam’s Club Pharmacy pricing just might be able to lower your costs.

A select number of drugs are absolutely free, and many prescription drugs are priced at only $4 for a 30-day supply.

The catch – you must be a Sam’s Plus member which costs $100 per year.  But that membership cost can easily be offset with the above savings on the basic membership first, and then by the prescription drug savings you can get throughout the year.

It’s important to note, you’ll need to purchase the basic membership first, using the savings plays listed above, and then you can upgrade to the Sam’s Plus membership if you want to take advantage of the prescription drug offerings. Upgrading can be done at the pharmacy when you purchase your first prescription.

Read our piece “Sam’s Club Pharmacies Offer Great Savings on Prescription Drugs” for all the info on prescription drug savings as well as a link to Sam’s Club’s prescription pricing document.

And, of course, there can be savings on a number of everyday items if you do your research.

Plus, if you’re really into the Miles and Points hobby, various gift cards are always offered at a discounted rate.

WRAP UP

A few times a year, you can get deals on Sam’s Club memberships.  Oftentimes, the Sam’s Club membership deals coincide with Sam’s Club Amex Offers that can lower the membership price via a credit card statement credit.

We have that scenario right now.

If you can stack all the deals we listed above, not only will you effectively get a “free” Sam’s Club membership, but you’ll “make” $35 as a result of the Dosh and Amex Offer deals.

Now that’s a nice savings.
