The phones are the same, with the following specs:

Best Buy

When you buy this phone via Best Buy for $179.99, you can activate/use it on most U.S. carriers with a carrier-specific SIM card.

Just pop in your preferred carrier’s SIM – SIMs can usually be gotten for free or for a low purchase price, depending on the carrier, or use a SIM you already have – pick the plan you want and begin using.

You can read more about the phone and buy at the link below.

Additional Deal:

Add

And get the unlocked phone, $50 AT&T Prepaid Refill Card and the AT&T Prepaid SIM Kit for $187.99 total.

You could use the phone on the AT&T Prepaid network, utilizing the above deal for only $8 more than the phone alone – or sell the refill card and SIM kit on eBay and keep the unlocked phone for yourself.

Google Fi

You can get the same Moto G7 phone via Google Fi but for $30 less or $149 for the outright purchase.

You must, however, activate the phone on the Google Fi network.

Which for some, might be a good deal. You can read more about Google Fi and sign up at this link.

For those who don’t want Google Fi for their cell service, there is an option.

Reports indicate you can purchase the Moto G7 phone for $149, activate it on Google Fi, wait for the confirmation email and then immediately cancel the cell service.

You won’t pay for Google Fi service, but will be able to keep the unlocked Moto G7 phone and use it on any cellular carrier you want. Of course, you’ll need a carrier-specific SIM before you can activate the phone on that carrier.

Other than that, the phone is yours to use as you please.

I fully understand some may not be comfortable going the Google Fi sign-up/cancel route. If that’s you, there’s the Best Buy deal to jump on instead.

Either way, you’re getting a decent, unlocked smartphone for a reasonable price.
