Try Sling TV and Get 40% Off Your First Month

Sling TV – one of many live TV streaming services – is offering 40% off subscribers’ first month of service.

A while back we wrote, “Sling TV is the Best Alternative to Cable TV.”

Since then, the live TV streaming market has grown significantly with competitors offering as good, or, in some cases, better service than Sling.

Considering the competition, we can no longer say Sling is the best alternative to pay TV.

But, it does still work as a cord-cutting option, and at a price-point lower than many of the streaming TV alternatives.

And now, for a limited time, you can try Sling TV for 40% off its regular monthly price for the first month of service.

Sling TV

Unlike when we first reviewed Sling TV, you can now choose from three base packages of service.

They include:

Sling Orange – regularly priced at $25 per month ($15 with the 40% off first-month deal)

Sling Blue – regularly priced at $25 per month ($15 with the 40% off first-month deal)

Sling Orange & Blue – regularly priced at $40 per month ($25 with the 40% off first-month deal)

A very simplified look at the different packages boils down to Sling Orange offering the main sports channels while Sling Blue does not.

Outside of the packages and pricing, much of what we wrote in our initial Sling TV review (linked above) is still applicable. Give it a look if you’re interested in more detail.

If not, here are a few highlights (or lowlights depending on your view) regarding the Sling TV streaming service.

Sling TV Highlights

Sling TV is somewhat like the Spirit Airlines of streaming TV. Lower base price with a variety of add-on options. You’ll need to look at the Sling offerings and then add up all the costs associated with your preferences to really compare streaming services.

Sling TV, unlike some of the other streaming services, offers limited live local channels. Local programming on Sling TV from FOX and NBC is only available in select cities to Sling Blue subscribers. So if you like to watch your local news or other programming live, you probably want to look at another streaming service.

Sling doesn’t make it easy when it comes to simultaneous streaming (watching on multiple devices at the same time). Sling Orange only allows one stream. Sling Blue allows up to 3 streams at one time. Sling Orange and Blue allows 4 streams, but limits streams based on channels…if you want to stream 2 different Orange package channels, that’s not allowed. But 2 streams of Blue package channels are allowed.

Sling offers a variety of a la carte channels, extras and cloud DVR. Which is good if you want to pick and choose what you want. It’s bad when what you want prices much higher than the all-in price other streaming services charge.

Like all other live streaming TV services, there is no contract. Sign up for the service and cancel at any time. Just be aware, you are charged in advance for your monthly service and there are no pro-rated refunds if you cancel anytime after the month begins.

And like most other streaming services, you do get a 7-day free trial period before you’ll be charged a monthly fee.

Take advantage of the free trial and this limited-time discounted first month of service to see if Sling TV is right for you.

Wrap Up

The Sling TV 40% off your first-month deal is an enticing offer, and one that makes trying out the service for an extended period of time a little more financially palatable.

If you’re considering cutting the cord, or want to try out another streaming service, now might be the time to give Sling TV a look.

At $15 for your first 5-weeks of service (or $25 for the Blue and Orange package) that’s a price-point that’s hard to beat.

But, do look over the Sling package offerings, as well as the add-ons to see what your total Sling spend would be once the discounted month ends.

Other streaming services just might be a better financial fit when the big picture is considered.
